Wedding - Nicole & Joel

One of the biggest blessings that this job brings is being able to be there for your dear friends and their biggest moments - and that’s exactly what happened with Nicole & Joel. It was such a privilege to capture their beautiful day on March 12th, 2023 surrounded by their friends and family (and by my family too. Yes, we were all there to party away with them and my sister was even in the bridal party!)

The day began in Grange with the guys at a beautiful Airbnb, Joel surrounded by his cousins (and some very nice whiskey.)

We then made our way not too far over to Tennyson where Nicole was waiting with her girls. Experiencing the wedding planning process with Nicole, I knew just how much thought and effort went into every selection and wow was it worth it. From her Kyha Studios gown paired with Steve Madden heels, to the bouquets designed to seamlessly match their colour scheme, it was perfection.

Their ceremony was held at the Northgate Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Surrounded by so many that had travelled from interstate to share the day with them, it was a touching simple ceremony to begin their married life together.

Nicole had such a clear vision for her pictures - they were going to be memorable, timeless, breathtaking and fun! We headed south to Blanche Point - an absolute favourite location for any photographer in South Australia. You just can’t beat those magical views overlooking the vast ocean. With our priorities in order, the first thing we did on arrival was blast the music and pop the champagne! I must admit I was a little bit chicken when looking over the edge and seeing nothing but a long drop into the water, but everyone handled it like pro’s.

Although they usually do not allow wedding parties, Joels connections at Samuel’s Gorge got us in for a sneaky glass of wine under the vines. A place that meant so much to them while dating, it was beautiful to be able to return for such a special day.

It was finally time to party! We made our way to Simon Hackett Winery in McLaren Vale for their reception. After an outfit change for Nicole into her second gown, a beaded Marquise Bridal number, they didn’t have long to settle in before whisking them away to frolic in the setting sun - we were blessed with the most dreamy purple skies and made the most of it.

The speeches were beautiful and heartfelt, there were tears and of course laughs too, with special mention to the Survivor themed bridesmaid speech and the special guest appearance from an anonymous ebay man (you had to be there.)

The night ended with a wild dance party under the stars and a tunnel of arms to farewell the couple as they began their life together as husband and wife.
